I was shaking in my boots the first time I tried to order Modafinil online. Firstly, I had no idea which vendor to trust or how to order it safely. (I now keep a dynamic link to the current vendor I trust here.)  Secondly there were 4 different versions of Modafinil as far as I could tell.

The 2 versions I kept seeing people recommend were Waklert and Modalert. Digging deeper I discovered there are some core differences between these 2 different products.

You must first be aware that these are 2 completely different versions of Modafinil. Modalert is the original version of Modafinil while Waklert is a version of Armodafinil. Armodafinil is a longer lasting compound and also has stronger potency. You will notice Modalert comes in 200mg tablets while Waklert comes in 150mg tablets.

I have tested both extensively as I will describe below.

Modalert experience

The first version of Modafinil I ordered was Modalert. This is indeed the gold standard and what most people refer to when they talk about Modafinil. It comes in strips of ten in these 200mg circular tablets with a score down the middle. The score allows you to easily snap the tablet in half – a practice I recommend. Over time I found 100mg was often just as effective as 200mg. Doing the math you can easily save lots of money taking less.

I would say the Modalert kicks in between 30 – 45 minutes with the full effects taking place at the 60 – 90 minute mark. There as a notable boost in overall energy. Any lethargy you feel is quickly replaced with a nice level sense of wakefulness. I tested the Modalert in many different scenarios. I found the compound shines exceptionally well in sleep deprivation settings. Road trips and all nighters were pieces of cake on Modafinil. In fact, I believe Modalert should be handed out like candy for truck drivers given the dangerous nature of their job. Modalert will most definitely save lives in this regard.

I found the Modalert good.

Waklert experience

Waklert for me personally was a completely different animal. It was similar to the Modalert but I found it much stronger. Not only was it stronger but it kept me up much through the night even when taken early. I noticed much more anxiety on Waklert than I experienced with Modalert.

Overall I concluded Waklert was not for me and much too strong. L-Theanine does wonders to smooth out the anxiety.

The ultimate decision

My advice to the Modafinil newcomer is always experiment with Modalert first and only upgrade to Waklert if you find Modalert ineffective. Some people who do not get much out of Modalert find great success with Waklert. Keep in mind there is also a genetic component which prevents any version of Modafinil from working.
