YouTube Cleans House and Suspends Kratom/Nootropics Channels

Today I woke up to an email from YouTube informing me that my YouTube channel (Gonootropics) had been suspended for violating community guidelines.

Actually, I received 2 emails. The first email was regarding a SECOND strike on my account for a Modafinil video I uploaded. I was thinking…okay, that sucks but my channel is still up. At that point I already had it in my mind to create second backup channel and shoot a video telling my subscribers what was going on. If shit did hit the fan at least I would still have a percentage of my most loyal subscribers on the new channel.

Then the second email came in flat out telling me my the channel had been suspended. Oh snap.

Other channels effected as far as I can tell:

  • Carpo719
  • Menthol Kratom
  • Kratom Hippie

Custom Grow 420 was also closed down and deleted. YouTube is not messing around.

What’s going on?

After receiving and appealing my first community strike months ago I knew the channel was in a seriously vulnerable position. Nootropics is not a mainstream topic of discussion and YouTube had already been making it very clear that the platform was favoring advertisers over creators. If you remember, the adpocalypse created a huge shift in the companies perspective on content as major advertisers LEFT the platform because of the types of videos YouTube was allowing their ads to run on.

When the money leaves you begin to scramble to find a solution. That solution for YouTube was demonetizing wide swathes of videos across an impressive landscape of genres and topics. Many creators making a living off their videos saw their revenues sink dramatically overnight. Luckily, I didn’t depend on the channel as a major source of income.

Moving forward

I’ve taken the first steps and submitted an appeal. I believe I have a good shot at getting the channel restored, knock on wood. What people don’t understand is these wide swathe deletions are bots going through and executing a process. Humans are not involved. Making an appeal gets the channel in front of a real person. With any luck, they will read my pathetic words of groveling and restore the channel to former glory.

If YouTube decides not to restore the channel, I will explore other avenues for my videos.

  1. Sorry man,
In the beginning I thought that I might accidentally unsubscribed to your YouTube channel so I started to search and when my searching came to no results ithought I missed with the spelling or something, finally it hit me that your channel could be deleted eather by you or YouTube, then i came here
You may remember me, im the one from Saudi Arabia who asked you about Piracetam.
I had read your answer but couldn’t resend you back ( thank you) because there were some details I would talked about but couldn’t find the time and the words since im struggling sometimes with English.
Anyway thanks for your help, and your channel was the best, and you were the honest and most trusted man in that faild, i respict you and wish the best, and im really sorry about your channel.
I think you should made a nother channel and upload all the old videos , (but not the restricted ones), again if you have them
    Don’t stop brother.
    Love and respect

    1. Hey man, appreciate the support. I have plans to revive the videos eventually, but finding a reputable platform for videos is hard to find.

  2. hey just leavin a comment here to show support after seeing the last comment, great blog you have here i just discovered it while searching for info in reagrds to making the right choice of ashwaghandha powder sensoril or ksm-66. I read this article and i’m surprised that it was so recent, it corresponds with something i saw today which is that bluebrainboost.com is no longer selling nootropics after 3/8/2019 which was yesterday, today as i’m writing thsi comment in 9th of march, luckily i got my order in on 7th of march and it has already been shipped, they were a major supplier of tianeptine sodium as far as i can understand… they also carried IDRA-21 and i think adrafinil, they also had like a lot of different racetams and stuff so it’s dissapointing to see them go as they had good shipping methods to get the products through my country’s customs inspections.

sorry about your channel man, it seems like theres a greay area around noots because of them being dietary supplements and so for healtha nd safety reasons they are getting more attention, we all know that theres only a certain extent in regards to health and safety that we can use to restrict these compounds, as the world can be safe and healthy or dangerous depending on many factors including the people involved. Much peace
