How To Spot Fake Modafinil

modafinil

The other day I crack open my inbox to find an email from a hater. At this point I’ve had a few of these and while haters mostly show up in the YouTube comments, they do occasionally grace my inbox.

He was “calling me out” and said he was going to EXPOSE me for the fraud I was.

I’m like, okay buddy, you do that. I continued to read his long email in complete astonishment that I alone caused this man so much distress. He was going full mental!

One of his rambles had to do with me recommending Modafinil he thought was fake. In particular, he accused me of recommending vendors who shipped fake Modafinil. (Turns out he thought I was recommending a vendor I’ve never even heard of.)

The younger version of myself would have instantly cooked up a vicious reply to this man…

Instead, I thanked him for his email and explained my process for determining if a particular batch of Modafinil was fake or not.

Anybody can do this and it doesn’t require fancy lab equipment (although technically that’s the best way to do it.)

Here it goes:

First off, I would be suspect of any product that did not come in the signature packaging strips. They will never come in a sandwich baggy. Check out my recent April giveaway video to see what it’s supposed to look like.

Next I put the product through a series of tests…

The Chew Test – I first chew the Modafinil like I would a PEZ candy (does anyone remember those?) Modafinil has a signature BITTER taste. It’s difficult to explain but you know it when you taste it. Obviously this requires that you already know what real Modafinil tastes like.

The Effect Test – Modafinil has a clear and noticeable effect on energy levels. Within one hour you should notice the signature wakefulness effects from the compound.

The Side Effect Test – This will differ from person to person. For me, Modafinil always suppresses my appetite and elevates my heart rate. These are physical signs the Modafinil is genuine.

The Urine Test – Modafinil makes your urine smell HORRIBLE! This could be grouped under the Side Effect Test but it’s perhaps the most unique tell tell sign the Modafinil is real.

Only once I have verified the product will I ever recommend a vendor or add them to the approved list.

I have verified many vendors using this method, most recently ModafinilXL.

What I like about them is they accept credit cards and have crazy fast shipping times. All other vendors only accept bitcoin and can take up to 2 weeks to ship. They are based in the USA and also ship to Canada.

Check them out if you want solid genuine product with lightning fast shipping times.

As for the hater, I never heard back from him but maybe he learned something new!

Thanks for the tips. I bought the Vilafinil from them (Centurion Laboratories) and it shipped really fast, no problems with payment or customs. I actually was trying to figure out if I’d bought a fake product, which is how I found your site. The pills I got are totally plain and look like aspirin. I have been cutting them in half (I’m a tiny person) and did not notice any taste when I put them on my tongue before swallowing with water. I *think* I’ve noticed an effect, but it might be placebo? Going to try upping the dose and sniffing my urine. If those don’t pass the test, maybe I’ll try Artvigil next….

Okay, thought I should report back on this. A few hours ago I took a whole pill. Definitely have been feeling ultra-alert and I haven’t even had any caffeine yet today (normally I’d be chugging cup after cup in a desperate bid to keep my eyes open…I’m taking Modafinil for ADHD but also have excessive sleepiness issues). I’m definitely too awake for this to be simply a placebo effect. Didn’t notice a strong urine smell, but I do have an odd sour/bitter taste in my mouth, whatever that means–nothing too terrible. Overall I *think* these pills are legitimate. However, they DON’T have a score line, so I probably wouldn’t buy this brand again because they’re a bit annoying to cut, which would be my preference.

Hey, Fallon. I was wondering if you could help me. I received some modafinil yesterday with ‘Modafinil Tablets 200mg’ written on the sheet of pills. It also says ‘EK OALERT-200’, ‘Modafinil BP 200mg’ on the packet. It says that they are manufactured for Euphoria Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. and marketed by K.C. PHARMA, both places in Mumbai. None of the pills have anything printed on them or a score for dosing, they are unlike anything that I have ever seen before. Decided not to try one to test it out because I don’t want to be doing my body any long-term damage. I was wondering if you knew of these as a legit brand.

Thought I share this:
I tried modalert from the now closed affinilexpress. These worked great and took 45 minutes to feel the effects, but I never noticed any particular urine smell, but I do drink alot of water to dilute.

Then I ordered modalert from buymoda, and after 3 months of daily use, about half are not working at all….it’s hit or miss. Both packaging looks the same from sunpharma.

Buymoda also sent me free trial Armodafinil, and that worked fine consistently.
I just switched to ModifinilXL to get more modalert, and waiting for that order, and hope it’s a better batch.

I just wonder if I should try the stronger wakalert.

Interesting…I bought from BuyModa also, and was looking for how to find out if the pills were real. Quick shipping, and the product came in packaging strips, but it says it’s from “Healing Pharma” and there is no score mark. I took modafinil in the past, and it always worked great. I also remember having an increased heart rate, notably more energy, and the urine smell. With the new batch I just got from BuyModa, there was no smell and no noticeable effect. The first day I thought maybe it was helping a little, but I think that was a placebo effect. The following two days I didn’t notice any help at all, and this morning I almost fell asleep on my way to work despite having taken the pill about an hour and a half before driving! And this was with 7 hours of sleep and a cup of coffee also. So perhaps some of BuyModa’s products are legit, but based on my experience and some of the other comments here, I think at least some of what they’re selling is either fake or has serious quality control issues.

Hi, thank you for this post!

These are exactly the same signs I have experienced while being on modalert for dozens of months around 2010. I used it to treat several unpleasant conditions that I suspected might have been related to narcolepsy (excessive sleepiness) or my giving up weed habit around one year earlier. This drug worked for me and I had spent very productive years taking a single 200mg pill per day. But all the good things end at some point and so was it in this case. My source disappeared and after getting a single batch of some weird stuff that I have dumped in the toilet I decided I’m going off completely. It wasn’t pleasant but I got used to definitely lower performance, mostly by exercising and keeping me occupied. Somehow managed to go back to the baseline. Until my narcolepsy problem came back.

About 3 years ago I started to struggle to stay awake during the day and this isn’t a joke – there were moments I literally pass out overwhelmed by tunnel-like feeling of quickly progressing tiredness. I decided to give it a try again and to my disappointment, the Modalert 200mg I have ordered had no flavour I remember (I still can imagine how does it feel like to have it dissolve on my tongue), there was no urine smell, I got really dull look in my eyes (mist like or smth) and this shit scared me to the point I have requested vendor to give me money back, which he did after collecting unopened blisters.

Now, to the point. After some stupid story I got busted and confined for a year, due to my mental condition doctors were checking me up in a mental asylum for several weeks. There I have met folks talking abt taking modafinil, microdosing LSD and doing another weird things to get “to the mental edge” – just like on this blockbuster movie abt modafinil-like pill they have seen (BTW I was on moda before it launched, have seen the trailer in movie theatre with a pill in my pocket – weird experience). “It gives you superpowers” – thats exactly what they said. Guy was sleepwalking, talking to himself while asleep and generally I had uneasy feeling in this company. None of them ever confirmed their urine smelled different after doing modafinil, so my guess is it’s the fake meds that got them there. Funny thing, the police officer who assisted while arresting me had exactly the same, dull and mist-like stare in her eyes.

Today I woke up from a blackout and have considered everything all over again and decided that it’s not worth it. If I have to sleep during the day, let it be. At least I won’t freak out other people doing their laundry and asking them funny things at 3am not remembering a thing the following day.

Based on my long experience with modafinil, here’s how I do it: Usually when I need or somehow stumble upon a new shop, I will only buy the smallest amount allowed from that store first, then proceed to test it. The urine smell test never fails on me unless you’re someone who never had that ever since or has an impaired renal or urinary function.

Besides, modafinil effects are very profound enough to know on first time if the drug is fake. Last but not the least, modafinil isn’t really something people would fake since it’s a fairly cheap drug that it’s not worth risking your reputation to sell fakes.
